- Brother Rice was named one of the best secondary schools in the nation for the fifth year in a row. Only 50 were so named, and Brother Rice was the only Catholic high school named this year in the Chicago area.
- Brother Rice was named a category leader in academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education.
- Brother Rice, having programs for students of all academic ability levels, has 5 National Merit students.
- Brother Rice has standardized test scores well above both the national and state averages for all its academic programs.
- Every Brother Rice APEX Honors Program student was named an Illinois State Scholar last year. Many young men earned perfect scores on different parts of both the ACT and SAT. Seventeen percent of senior class were named Illinois State Scholars.
- Brother Rice seniors earned more than 6.5 million towards their college educations through scholarships, awards, and grants.
- Brother Rice offers both Advanced Placement and for college credit courses. It is possible for a young man to do most of his freshmen year of college while at Brother Rice due to transfer credit.
- Several Brother Rice math students earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place honors in Algebra’s I and II, geometry, and pre-calculus at the Catholic high schools’ math contests on November 19 and December 10, 2005.
- Brother Rice Advanced Placement courses have an exceptionally high pass rate.
- Brother Rice has developed academic programs whereby students excel and offered the opportunity to move to a higher academic level through departmental testing and flexible scheduling.
