Resource Center
Ms. Sheri Lucas is the Resource teacher. This is her second year at Brother Rice. The Resource Center is designed to service students who do not qualify for the Catapult Program, but need extra support in the areas of math, English, and ACT preparation. Students may receive services from the resource center by teacher, counselor, or parent recommendation only. The resource center will be available to students before and after school for 30 minutes, during the second half of the students’ lunch, and during study hall periods. Ms. Lucas will communicate closely with the students’ teachers and assist the students with concepts they are learning in the classroom. She will also help with homework.
There are eight computers in the room, which will use PLATO software to help supplement the students’ work in the classroom. The PLATO program has additional lessons in math, English and ACT prep skills. The software is also very beneficial because it allows Ms. Lucas to keep track of student progress and mastery of the skills they are learning in the classroom.
