The Cainkar computer center is reserved 3rd & 8th periods today.
All Students: Bus passes can be purchased in the main office at the end of the day.
Students seeking membership in the National Honor Society must fill out an information packet, which will be reviewed by the Faculty Council. Packets are available from Mrs. England in room 217 and are due back by Friday, August 29, 2008 at 3:00 P.M.
The following important message is from the Deans’ Office:
At the end of the last school year, several students left personal belongings in their lockers. While the Deans’ have maintained custody of these things during the course of the summer, please be advised that these items will be discarded by Friday, August 29th. Once again, if you left anything in a locker at the end of last year that you wish to recover, you must do so by Friday, August 29th at the Deans’ Office.
Attention Pool Players: There will be a 4 school tournament at Pro-Tyme Billiards this Sunday, August 31 at noon. Any Brother Rice student under 18 years old is welcome to participate. The cost for this race to three, double-elimination tournament is $5.00. Included in the day will be an appearance by Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman, world class artistic pool champion. Parents are welcome to cheer on the players. If you would like to participate, please see Ms. Pacetti in the Student Activities office today.
Attention Students: Elections for homeroom representative to the Student Council will take place next week. If you would like to be a homeroom representative, you must be pre-approved before you can become a candidate. Homeroom rep. application forms are available outside the Student Activities office or from your homeroom teacher. These forms must be turned in to Ms. Pacetti in the Student Activities office by tomorrow. After your application form is completed, the Main Office must verify that you have a 2.5 GPA and the Dean’s Office must verify that you are in good standings.
Attention members of last year's Announcement team: If you would like to participate again this year, please see Ms. Pacetti. We will also need about 6 more students to round out the team. If you have a good speaking voice and can read aloud clearly, please see Ms. Pacetti for more information.
Any returning Junior or Senior that has not yet received his 2008 - 2009 ID card is asked to stop by the Deans' Office and do so some time this week.
ATTENTION SENIORS: If you are a golf club caddy and interested in applying for the Chick Evans Scholarship, please check in with your Counselor by Friday, September 5th.
HEALTH OFFICE REMINDER: Per Illinois State Law, all medications, except for inhalers and epipens, should be stored in the Health Office and dispensed by the School Nurse. Students should not carry medication in backpacks or on their person. If you need medication, even over-the-counter medication, during school hours please bring it to the Health Office in the original pharmacy packaging.
SPORTS
Volleyball open gym this week: Tomorrow 7:30-9:00pm in the South and North Gyms. All Br. Rice students not in a current sport are invited.
Come out and support your Crusader Football Team. Tickets are available in the athletic office during all lunch periods. Student price is$6.00 and Adult $10.00. The Varsity Football team will take on Morgan Park at Soldier Field on Saturday, Aug. 30th. Kick off is set for 4:00pm. All students, faculty and staff must purchase a ticket as passes are not accepted at this game.
Any member of last year's Track team should see Coach Wazio in room 212 by this Friday to pick up their awards from last season.
Any freshman or sophomore interested in joining the Cross Country team this year should see Coach Wazio in room 212 or Coach Molenda in room 111.
Any freshman interested in trying out for the freshmen basketball team should pick up an information sheet outside the Athletic Office.
All Students interested in wrestling, and not in a fall sport, there will be a brief meeting Tues. Sept. 2 after 7th and 8th period in the Cafeteria.
The battle of Pulaski takes place Sunday night, with freshman and sophomore football action. The freshman will host Marist at 5:00 PM and the sophomores host Marist at 7:30 PM. Sunday night is also 7th and 8th grade night. A big crowd is expected. Come out and support an exciting weekend of Crusader football.
Students are reminded that loitering or "hanging around" in the gyms is prohibited. Students are not to congregate in the gyms after school. Only those students who are involved in a fall sport or have permission from a coach are allowed to be in the gyms after school. IDs will be taken and detentions issued to those in violation of this policy.
