Schedule a Shadow Day
Students in 7th and 8th grades only who are interested in attending Brother Rice can schedule a “Shadow Day.” Prospective students attend classes with a host student for the day in order to get an idea of what being a Brother Rice student is like. If you are interested in scheduling a Shadow Day for yourself or your son, please read the Shadow Day Policy, print the page, and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Shadow Days go from 8:10 (period 1) until 1:56 (period 7), with the exception of Thursday's, when dismissals take place at 1:30, due to our homeroom schedule day.
Shadow Day Policy
- This form must be filled out by the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the visiting student and turned in with the student on the day of the visit.
- The parent(s) or guardian(s) of the visiting student must call Mr. Tim Lyons at 773-429-4300, ext. 123 at least one day prior to the visit in order to schedule it.
- Upon arrival at Brother Rice, this form must accompany your son and be presented to Mr. Lyons at check in when he arrives.
- The visiting student must be in school attire: dress pants, dress shoes, and a shirt and tie. If the Shadow Day is on a Friday, shadows are encouraged to wear Brother Rice “Spirit” shirts. These are Brother Rice polos, t-shirts, jerseys, or sweatshirts. Please, no gym shoes.
- The visiting student will be given a lunch pass to purchase a lunch in the cafeteria.
- Transportation will be provided by the parents of the visiting student, or arranged with the host student.
- Brother Rice encourages you to schedule a day that your son has off from his grammar school.
